Dear Livejoural....Today I am a douche bag....

So here's a quick rundown of the past few months, since I've basically stopped using this thing regularly for lack of interest.

1. As Hope Fades is broken up. Don't cry for us, we're already dead. A new band is in the works though. It should involve "bringing the mosh" which I have my doctorate in. I didn't go to 6 years of scene school to be referred to as Mr. Mosh.

2. I got my Scion Xb, and it's incredible. I love my ugly car. If you see a camo green box on wheels in Willimantic, and it's blasting some sort of Swedish death metal, we probably just had a chance automotive encounter.

3. Speaking of driving, I was on my way through South Windsor today rollin' back from some hype-ass staff meetings, when the road split into two lanes. On my left a guy in a Dodge Durango decided to box me out and hang on my left side. In front of me, HUGE PUDDLE. To my right? Old (homeless?) lady in wheelchair slowly heading down the sidewalk. There was really nothing I could do that wouldn't have involved a car accident, and my car is too new to sacrifice for the dryness of the crippled. I also must have been going faster than I thought, because the ensuing deluge of me hitting that puddle completely wholloped that woman. When I looked in my rearview she had spun around to actually shake her fist at me. I can only imagine her loudly screaming incoherantly like the cat lady from the Simpsons.

At least before I unleashed a muddy tidal wave on her I had the decency to mutter that I was sorry. Quietly, not unlike when the mother let Macauly Culkin fall from the cliff, before rescuing a young Elijah Wood at the end of The Good Son.

So yeah, I'm a total douche. In other news, who else is buying DOOM 3 for XBox? Cuz I know I am, and we GOTSTA get some deathmatch going on.

BTW.

Auditions for a new As Hope Fades vocalist are still in full swing. If you are or know someone 21+ that can make practice every Sunday morning in Columbia (right near Willimantic/UConn area) and play a couple of gigs each month on weekends, then maybe you can try out! You also need reliable transportation, and a PA is always helpful.

Check out ASHOPEFADES.COM

and then Our MySpace site to download mp3s and see what you can come up with to them.

We're generally professional, easy going, and we loves the rock music.

Just in case anyone who reads my journal thought I was dead or sucked into another dimension through a vortex behind a convenience store, I wasn't.
Things have been topsy-turvy lately, and I haven't had any desire or time to use internet stuff like LJ and/or MySpace.
So, if it's important enough to mention on the internet....

1. Xmas and New Year's were highly stressful, but looking back on them I still managed to have fun. Moreso on NY'sE than on the birthday of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

2. As Hope Fades is still on the search for a new singer. If you know any good, reliable ones that are 21+ then give me a holler. Especially if they like bands like Mastodon and Helmet.

3. Me and my girlfriend are moving in together this month, and I'm really excited about it. We should be closing on a townhouse in the next few days, which will rule if everything goes according to plan. It has 2 parking spaces (one for the Scion Xa, and another for the forthcoming Scion Xb).

4. My job is busy and I work long hours.

5. I'm hoping to have XBox Live be running and wireless by Feb. 5th. At that time I will most likely purchase Halo 2, Ghost Recon 2, and DOOM 3. I would like some of my friends who also have XBox live to contact me at that time. We can use headsets, for which to shout profanity at each other. Lloyd and Pat, I'm particularly looking in your directions.

So that's it. I'll probably end up posting a little more regularly once we're settled into the new place. Then again, maybe not.

Fun show Friday night at the Webster Underground. Thanks to everyone who came out. Technical problems aside. =)

Did anyone see the end of SNL this week where Ashlee Simpson totally got caught out for lip syncing? I'm assuming that since she's supposedly one of those artists who "doesn't lipsync" live she should've been more careful, as the vocal tape started for the wrong song, she just stood there, and danced a pathetic jig, and walked off stage before they cut to commerical from a shot of her band laughing. She later stated "Well, sorry, my band played the wrong song." Seems to me, that if she was actually a real singer, and on top of that, wrote he own music, she'd have been able to just figure out which song it was and sing it after a few seconds. Isn't that what singers do? I guess it's not when you hear you voice go up and then get cut off the PA in the mix. As my girlfriend accurately stated "That's why your parents love Jessica more."

Hitting up the studio tomorrow night. I'm so excited and apprehensive, as I've never done this before. We're loading in and hopefully mic'ing drums and cabs on Saturday night, then Sunday morning the actual recording begins. 10-12 straight hours of it. I'm hoping to document some of it with the DV Cam. As i think there might be some worthy shenanigans or pithy comments made that I'd like to catch on film.

I'm obsessively listening to/studying Leviathan because it's easily the best rock album I've heard all year. I want to figure out how to write songs like this, and I have a feeling it takes something more than simply practice.

If you like heavy rock or metal, you need to buy this album, or at least borrow it from someone.

Go HERE to understand more about what I speak of.

If you're like me and have a Mac, and you've noticed that Safari is the most worthless, slow piece of shit ever, then may I suggest Mozilla Firefox .0.9.3 It's the new hotness and I'm literally browsing about 3-5 times faster. Hmm, almost as fast as on a PC (not quite though.) I just wish I had DL'd it sooner, as I'd been using FireFox on a PC for almost a year, and for some reason just couldn't get away from Safari at home. Probably that whole brushed chrome thing....
